Brett finished the season with a 7.30 ERA, allowing 16 hits and 10 earned runs in 12.1 innings. His best outing of the season came against Stanford on May 20. Brett tossed two innings of hitless relief in the Tigers' 10-5 loss to the Cardinal. Manning also continued to contribute at the plate, posting a .206 batting average with 20 hits in 36 games. His best offensive performance came against Long Beach State on Apr. 29. Manning finished the game 3-for-5 including a double off the left field wall.<p><b>2006 (Sophomore):</b><p>Focussing only on his development at the plate, Manning followed up his impressive freshman season by posting even better numbers in 2006. Brett appeared in 47 games, including 38 starts last season. He finished the season with a .261 batting average, including nine doubles, one triple and one home run. Manning finished fourth on the Tigers with 22 RBI. Manning was one of two Tigers named to the Quala-T Imprints Baylor Classic All-Tournament Team as Brett finished the three-game tournament 6-for-10 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored. Manning's lone home run came in the second game of the season as he blasted a solo shot to cap a seven-run first inning, lifting Pacific to a 14-6 win over Santa Clara on Feb. 4.<p><b>2005 (Freshman):</b><p> In his first season with the Tigers, Manning made significant contributions both at the plate and on the mound. Brett finished 2005 with a .231 batting average, 21 hits, three home runs and eight RBI. On the mound, Manning was 1-5 with a 5.50 ERA in 37.2 innings pitched. Brett was named Big West Co-Player of the Week from May 2-8. During the week, Brett was 5-for-10, had a 1.111 slugging percentage and a .500 OBS. In the Tigers' 6-5 win over UC Irvine on May 6, Manning was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Manning hit his third home run of the season in the contest and hit a double that struck the top of the right-center field wall, before bouncing back into play. Earlier in the week, Brett was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the Tigers' 6-1 win over Saint Mary's on May 3. Manning had a whale of a series against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (Apr. 1-3) as Brett hit his first two home runs and picked up his first victory of the season. In the series opener on Apr. 1, Brett was 4-for-5 with four RBI, three runs scored and two home runs in the Tigers' 7-4 win. In the series finale on Apr. 3, Manning allowed just one unearned run on five hits in six innings, lifting the Tigers to a 6-1 win. Brett drove in his first three runs of the year when the freshman lifted a bases clearing single to center field in the Tigers' 7-2 win over Hawai'i on Mar. 23. Manning came on in relief against Stanford on Mar. 20 and pitched two no-hit innings.<p><b>High School:</b><p>Manning graduated from Boulder High School in Boulder, Colo. in 2004. A dual threat for the Panthers, Manning finished 2004 with a .433 batting average, 56 runs scored, three home runs and 37 RBI. On the mound, Manning was 5-0 with two shutouts and a 1.70 ERA in 41 innings. Following the season, he was named the Panthers' MVP, earned All-State honorable mention and was on the All-Centennial League First Team. As a junior, Manning hit .406 with seven home runs, 34 RBI and 40 runs scored.<p><b>Personal:</b><p>Brett Manning is the son of James and Martha Manning. Brett has two siblings, Scott (26) and Eric (26). In his fourth year at Pacific, Brett is a business major.<p>
